In recent years, the self storage industry has faced increasing problems with a small number of customers who can create significant issues for storage operators and other customers.

Storer Check helps self storage businesses make informed decisions about who they deal with while protecting customers.
For Self Storage Businesses
Storer Check allows self storage operators to record details of customers who have caused significant problems and, where appropriate, share this information with other participating self storage operators.
The aim is to help the industry identify potential risks, improve safety, and protect most responsible customers' experience.
When a customer applies for storage, they may be asked to consent to being included on the Storer Check database as a condition of taking out self storage.
Where consent has been given, the storage operator may provide the customer's information to Storer Check if problematic or antisocial incidents occur. This information may then be made available to other Storer Check members.
For Storers and Customers
If you use a self storage facility that participates in Storer Check, you may be asked to consent to your details being included on the Storer Check database.
This does not mean that you will automatically be listed. Information may only be submitted to Storer Check where a participating storage operator considers that problematic or antisocial incidents have occurred.
Your rights
You have a legal right to know whether you have been listed on Storer Check and what information is held about you. You can contact the Storer Check administrators to confirm whether you are listed. This confirmation service is free of charge. You can also request a copy of all the information that Storer Check holds about you.
If you believe a listing is incorrect
If you believe that information held about you is incorrect, there is an independent resolution process available to you.
Note
Storers are only listed for a maximum of five years from the date of their initial listing.
